Surface Solutions offers four very good and very distinct coatings for cutting tool applications, Alpha™, TiAlN, TiCN and TiN.

If you are looking for a premium, all-purpose coating that will deliver two to four times the tool life over TiN coating, try our Alpha™ coating.

If you are really "pushing" your tools with little or no coolants, TiAlN will offer the most oxidation resistance. TiCN, on the other hand, is very hard and will provide two to three times the tool life over TiN.


Coatings are extremely cost-effective, usually only costing about 5 - 10 percent of what the tool cost.  Just doubling your tool life results in getting back over $10 in profits for every $1 spent on coatings.
