Aluminum Titanium Nitride (AlTiN / TiAlN)
Want oxidation resistance? Titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) or aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) is what you want.
Our TiAlN is actually AlTiN because our coating has a gradually increasing percentage of aluminum in it as one goes through the coating, starting at the coating - substrate interface. On the outer surface of the coating, there is a high percentage of aluminum in the film. As the tool heats up, the aluminum converts to aluminum oxide, staying in the film.
The design of this coating provides exceptional oxidation resistance and extreme hardness. That's why this coating works well in very demanding cutting tool applications, especially when tools are being pushed to the max.

What's the difference between TiAlN and AlTiN?
With other coating suppliers, the difference has been in the Al/Ti ratio of the film. TiAlN is typically 50/50, while AlTiN is typically 70/30 Al/Ti. Since our coatings have a high percentage of Al in the film, we offer more of an AlTiN coating than a TiAlN coating.
