Coatings for cutting tools run the gamut from A (Alpha™) to Z (ZrN). But unlike the ice cream parlor, coating companies would go out of business if they offered every available flavor. At Surface Solutions, we've decided to offer four very good and very distinct coatings for cutting tool applications, Alpha™, TiAlN, TiCN and TiN.

If you are looking for a premium, all-purpose coating that will deliver two to four times the tool life over TiN coating, try our Alpha™ coating.

If you are really "pushing" your tools with little or no coolants, TiAlN will offer the most oxidation resistance. TiCN, on the other hand, is very hard and will provide two to three times the tool life over TiN.

The most economical coating we offer is TiN. With TiN, you get a coating that will provide two to seven times the tool life (compared to uncoated tools) at a price that is about 35 percent less than what we charge for our premium coatings (Alpha™, TiCN and TiAlN).

At Surface Solutions, there are no big "minimums" that you have to meet. Our minimum charge is only $25.
