Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coating

Titanium nitride coating (yellow bar on the chart) was the first general purpose coating. It's been around for a long time for one simple reason, ... it works. Whether it's cutting tools, punching or forming, or injection molding, users know they are going to get anywhere from two to ten times the tool life using titanium nitride coating.

TiN coating is easily stripped from tool steels.  This makes TiN an ideal coating for applications that use expensive tooling such as injection molding and forming.

Also, since the body tolerates TiN coating well, TiN is used in numerous medical (implants, surgical instruments, etc) and food processing applications.
